By accessing or using VoteLens at votelens.app, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you may not use our service. VoteLens is a free, public civic information tool — no account is required.

Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of VoteLens ("the Service", "we", "us"). By using VoteLens, you confirm that you are at least 13 years old and agree to these Terms.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting. Continued use of the Service after modifications constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Description of Service

VoteLens is a civic transparency tool that allows users to:

  • Search for political issues or select from a predefined list of topics.
  • Enter a ZIP code to identify their local U.S. representatives.
  • View voting records of those representatives on relevant legislation.

VoteLens is provided free of charge and requires no registration.

Accuracy of Information

VoteLens strives to provide accurate and up-to-date voting records sourced from official government databases. However:

  • We make no warranties, express or implied, about the completeness, accuracy, or reliability of the information.
  • Political topic classification uses AI (OpenAI) and may not always match your intent perfectly.
  • Voting records are for informational purposes only and should not be used as the sole basis for political decisions.

Always verify important information through official government sources such as congress.gov.

Prohibited Uses

You agree not to use VoteLens to:

  • Scrape, harvest, or systematically extract data from the service in bulk without permission.
  • Attempt to disrupt, overwhelm, or attack our servers or infrastructure.
  • Use the service in any manner that violates applicable local, state, national, or international law.
  • Misrepresent voting records or use data from VoteLens for deliberate disinformation.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer or exploit vulnerabilities in the platform.

Intellectual Property

The VoteLens interface, design, branding, and original code are owned by VoteLens and protected by copyright law. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the VoteLens UI without explicit written permission.

Voting records and government data used by VoteLens are sourced from public domain government databases and are not claimed as proprietary by VoteLens.

Disclaimer of Warranties

VoteLens is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, VoteLens and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of VoteLens shall be resolved in the applicable courts of the United States.

Your use of VoteLens is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using VoteLens, you also agree to the Privacy Policy.
